VA Puget Sound Health Care System

Health Education

At VA Puget Sound, we feel that the best advocate for your health is not a doctor, nurse or social worker – it’s you! To help you learn ways to live a healthy lifestyle and better manage your own health, the following resources are available for you.

Medical Libraries

Our Medical Libraries are staffed by experienced librarians and library technicians. The libraries contains a collection of easy-to-read health and wellness books, respected health education newsletters, videos and other materials.

The American Lake Medical Library is in Bldg. 71 near the inpatient cafeteria. The Seattle Medical Library is located in the basement of Building 1, down the hall from the elevator lobby.

My HealtheVet

The My HealtheVet site provides Veterans and their families excellent, reliable patient education information as well as the latest VA News. Information about Veterans benefits and services is also available.

Upon registering with My HealtheVet, you will be able to —

  • refill prescriptions online
  • keep personal food and activity journals
  • monitor your personal health data, such as blood pressure and pain levels
  • maintain your own self-entered personal health record

Outpatient Classes

Inpatient Classes

Patient education is a vital part of any inpatient stay. Beginning with your admission to VA Puget Sound, a variety of health education opportunities will be made available. Our goal is to provide a hospital environment where patients —
