VA Puget Sound Health Care System offers outpatient vision rehabilitation services at both its Seattle and American Lake Divisions through its Visual Impairment Services teams and low vision clinics.
The American Lake facility is home to one of the nation’s 10 national inpatient Blind Rehabilitation Centers. Visually impaired Veterans from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming are referred to the American Lake Blind Rehabilitation Center for comprehensive vision rehabilitation services.
Both divisions have teams of VIST Coordinators (case managers) and BROS (Blind Rehab Outpatient Specialists). VIST and BROS from around VISN 20 and elsewhere refer up to 120 to 130 Veterans a year from around the northwest.
